12 months ago i purchased a hotpoint ultima washer dryer during a refit of my kitchen, it was the biggest mistake i made in the entire refit! The machine does a good wash and is excellant at spinning having a 1600 spin speed. The problem comes from the supposed 'dryer' facility. This is most definatly not a washer 'dryer'. It takes about 5 hours to go through a complete washer/dryer cycle and at the end of that time the washing is anything but dry. Clothes still need to be hung over my central heating radiators to dry, therefore i have wet washing hanging around the house drying, the very reason i bought the washer dryer was to eliminate wet washing hanging around the house. This is a completely unacceptable end result after a 5 hour cycle. This washer dryer is still being sold as an up to the minute appliance, the reality is that it is not up to the standard i expect from a washer bought brand in the last 12 months. (More)

This washing machine is the second of its kind that we have seen in successive rental houses. Both have been the bane of our weekend laundry experience. I imagine these are good from the landlords point of view, that they are cheap, but if you use this machine several times a week it will need replacing in less than two years. Our three month old current machine already is making the tell-tale grinding bearing noises that eventually saw our previous machine self destruct, mid-spin cycle with unrepairable bashing and denting of the drum. Apart from the short life-span, the actual function of the machine is poor: * Okay-ish wash quality * Timer function is graded in *three hour* increments, which is almost useless * Wash cycles take almost two hours * Pausing the machine is difficult - for example, while pausing the drying cycle I has often inadvertantly restarted the wash cycle, which is a bit annoying * Despite numerous attempts, we have been unsuccessful in balancing the machine...
